Detectives have apprehended 23-year-old Jacktone Oluoch, a student at Maseno University, in connection with a violent robbery incident.
Oluoch allegedly perpetrated a violent robbery and sexual assault against two fellow first-year students from the same campus on the night of April 14, 2024.
The victims were assaulted while sleeping in their shared room during the late hours of the night by two assailants armed with a machete and a dagger. Threatened with violence, the terrified girls were forced to comply with the attackers’ demands before the perpetrators fled with their smartphones.
Following the departure of the assailants, the victims raised an alarm, prompting neighbors to come to their aid. They were promptly escorted to a local hospital for medical treatment.
Oluoch was apprehended by detectives at his residence in Maseno’s Chulaimbo area, where one of the stolen phones belonging to the victims was found in his possession.
Oluoch was arrested on May 15 after DNA samples collected at the crime scene linked him to the incident. Subsequently, he has been arraigned in court.
Detectives from Kisumu West are actively pursuing new leads regarding Oluoch’s accomplices and are diligently working to bring them to justice.
