KAMPALA
The office of the Prime Minister through the Prime Minister’s delivery Unit (PMDU) in collaboration with the National Curriculum development center (NCDC) have begun the process of engaging York Express to further develop a skills based learning system in Uganda.
The consultation meeting took place at Latitude 0 Hotel in Makindye in Kampala.
York Express, are headquartered in London and offer expert consultancy designed to shape educational initiatives for public and private institutions as well as ministries of education in several countries in the world.
Robert Kasule Ssebunya, the head of PMDU at the office of the Prime minister says that the consultations are meant to help the country in curriculum design and modernization to match the ever changing needs in the world.
Ssebunya says that the country is currently engaging with York Express to come up with ways of expediting the process of overhauling the education system in Uganda to meet the needs of the current generation.
Dr. Bernadette Nambi Karuhanga, theDeputy Director Curriculum, Review & Instructional Materials Development at NCDC says that education is at the center of development for the country because there is need for human capital that is compliant with the prevailing conditions.
Nambi says that collaborations are key in the development of education in Country to fill the gaps and challenges faced in the education sector.
Sean O’Brien, an educational consultant from York Express says that they have worked with several countries across the world consultancy, Framework development, Technical education, assessment, professional development and content in ICT, English, Arabic, Math, science and social studies.
Uganda is currently implementing the Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) which was incorporated into the thematic curriculum.
