“Kyagulanyi Has Once Again Condemned Mpuuga for Awarding Himself Shs 500 Million.”

National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi has once again condemned his party member, Commissioner Mathias Mpuuga, for awarding himself a Shs 500 million retirement benefit. The statement follows a tweet from Daily Monitor on X (formerly Twitter), which revealed that Mpuuga, along with other parliamentary commissioners, had decided to grant themselves the hefty sum, despite serving only 11 months in office.

In his response, Kyagulanyi expressed disappointment and concern over the decision, highlighting the apparent contradiction of awarding such a large sum after a relatively short tenure. He stressed that this action went against the values of integrity and accountability that NUP stands for.

Kyagulanyi’s condemnation, as shared in the Daily Monitor’s tweet, has ignited discussions within the party and across the public. Many are questioning the fairness and ethics of the decision, particularly in light of Uganda’s current economic challenges.

This incident has brought the spotlight back on how political leaders handle public resources and the need for greater transparency and ethical standards in leadership. Kyagulanyi’s swift disapproval reflects his commitment to holding his party members accountable and ensuring that their actions align with the core values of the NUP.
