Kalaki District Assistant Engineer Dies in Tragic Road Accident

Moses Olobo, the Assistant Engineer for Kalaki District, has tragically died in a road accident. The incident occurred at around 10 a.m. on Monday near Olianai in Kakure Sub-county, as Olobo was traveling from Soroti back to Kalaki. Witnesses report that Olobo lost control of his vehicle, causing it to crash into a tree. The impact shattered the vehicle’s windscreen, and Olobo was ejected from the car. Bystanders quickly arrived at the scene and attempted to assist. Olobo was rushed to Soroti Regional Referral Hospital, where medical teams worked to stabilize him. Unfortunately, his condition continued to deteriorate, and plans were made to transfer him to a hospital in Mbale for advanced care. Tragically, he passed away before reaching the facility.

Dr. Clement Ongalo Obote, the Minister of State for Teso Affairs, confirmed the news during a speech at the Teso Development Association (TESDA) conference. He expressed deep sorrow over the loss and praised Engineer Olobo’s significant contributions to Kalaki and the Teso sub-region. “Engineer Moses Olobo was a pillar of our community, a dedicated professional who gave his all for the growth of Kalaki District,” Dr. Ongalo said. “His death is a tragic loss not only to his family but to the entire Teso sub-region.”

Olobo was well-regarded within Kalaki Town Council and the wider region for his commitment to improving infrastructure and development. Police have not yet released an official statement regarding the cause of the accident, leaving many questions unanswered about the circumstances surrounding the tragedy. Olobo’s untimely death has left a deep void in his family, workplace, and community, who are still coming to terms with the shock of his passing.
