The Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) recruitment drive has witnessed a significant number of candidates being disqualified due to various reasons.
As the recruitment process continues, the UPDF has identified the primary factors leading to candidate disqualification.
A major reason for disqualification is medical unfitness. Several candidates were found medically unfit for military service due to conditions such as hernia, HIV, hepatitis B, hemorrhoids, and varicose veins, which are deemed incompatible with the rigorous demands of military duty.
Another critical factor is the lack of genuine academic documents. Some applicants were unable to provide authentic educational certificates as required for recruitment. The UPDF has rigorously verified these documents, resulting in the dismissal of applicants with inadequate or falsified credentials.
Age has also played a pivotal role in disqualification decisions. The UPDF strictly adheres to age eligibility criteria, automatically disqualifying candidates who do not meet the specified age requirements or who took the Uganda Certificate of Education before 2020.
According to Deputy Defense Public Information Officer Col Deo Akiiki, several factors contributed to the elimination of candidates at recruitment centers across the country.
The UPDF underscores the importance of meeting all eligibility criteria to facilitate a seamless recruitment process. Prospective candidates are advised to undergo medical screenings, ensure the authenticity of their academic records, and verify their age to maximize their chances of successful enlistment.
