According to the statement of police doctor Andrew Kizimula Mubiru, a large number of weapons including four sticks, a sword and a pistol were seized from the master bedroom of Molly and Henry Katanga.
Mubiru, the customs services director, disclosed the relevant details during a cross-examination on Wednesday, August 28. It was confirmed that Molly’s blood was found in the bedroom, bathroom, balcony and ceiling, while gruesome skull and skin fragments were found on the bedroom door.
The exhibits, which included three sticks, a rod and a curved iron bar, were presented in court. A weapon, which Mubiru described as “ammunition”, was also found at the scene.Mubiru’s statement also revealed that Molly was in a coma when she was admitted to the hospital complaining of headaches, a broken hand and a broken arm.
Her husband, Henry, died recently from a gunshot wound to the head.Mubiru told Justice Isaac Muwata that among the evidence she received for DNA analysis were suspicious blood samples taken from bedrooms, bathrooms, doors and ceilings at the crime scene.
Samples were also collected from batons, walking sticks and brain cells. The court also heard that swabs from Molly Katanga’s right hand and the deceased Katanga’s left hand had been sent for DNA testing. The trial continues as prosecutors attempt to build a case against Molly Katanga over her husband’s murder.
Last week, the police officer involved in the incident, Dr. Richard Ambayo, told the court that the gunshot that killed Henry Katanga was fired nearby.
“The entry wound on the left side of the head is 1.5 centimetres long and the tissue is not turning black, which indicates protection,” Dr. Ambyo explained.
“This means that the gun was pressed against the victim’s head when it was fired.”Dr Ambyo, who ruled on November 2, 2023, with Dr Male Mutumba.
An examination revealed that there was a 5x3cm wound at the exit site of the bullet and a fracture on the left side of the body.
“The absence of blackening around the entry wound is a direct reflection of the gunshot on the skin when it was fired,” Dr. Ambayo noted.
