The Buyaga East Member of parliament Eric Musana has challenged the general public to make a reflection on the achievements in these 62yrs of Uganda’s independence and look forward to enhance development starting at a house hold level for a better future.
Musana made the remarks this morning while speaking to Paradigm FM as Uganda commemorated her 62nd independence anniversary.
The national celebrations were for the first time held in Busia district under the theme: “A Recommitment to Secure and Fortify our Destiny”.
Musana says there is need for an individual to lay strategies for the development of the homes and society at large.
Alozio Tibesigwa, the Kagadi district leader of the Business community said that at 62years of Uganda’s independence a lot have been archived such as good road networks, market for agricultural products and other goods have been secured unlike in the past years.
He however asked the government to stop over borrowing from foreign countries, reduce taxes, enhance security and improve the health sector by stocking enough drugs in the health facilities.
Justine Tumwebaze Aisha, the Kagadi district health educator narrates that since Uganda gained her independence, there have been several improvements such as infrastructure development, elevating health Centre IIs to III& IV statuses, improved medication and fostered abilities to fight epidemics such as Ebola and other outbreaks.
Solomon Musinguzi, the chairperson Uganda National Teachers’ Union (UNATU) Kagadi branch says the country has experienced great transformation in the education sector.
He however said that Uganda has not yet achieved full independence because teaching and instruction in schools is still done in foreign languages in an independent country.
