KAGADI
Parents in Kagadi district have been encouraged to invest in the education of their children to give them a strong foundation for prosperity.
The call was made on Tuesday by the Kagadi RDC Lillian Ruteraho in her address to parents in a PTA general meeting held at Yeruzalemu P/S, Kanyabebe Sub-County Kagadi district.
She emphasized the need for educating children asserting that illiteracy creates regrets in old age.
Ruteraho encouraged investing in child education to improve performance in government aided schools.
She asked parents to monitor the education of their children, provide lunch, carry out regular school visits and cross check children’s exercise books to assess their commitment in academics.
Ruteraho also warned teachers against absenteeism, emphasizing hard work and selfless service to improve performance in the government schools.
Meanwhile the head teacher Yeruzalemu P/S Valence Byaruhanga said the PTA meeting has approved payment of fees ranging from 10,000 to 15,000 shillings per child to support the development programs at school.
He said the school grapples with staff shortages and part of the collected funds will be used to pay salaries for the recruited private teachers.
