KITGUM
A 93 year old woman in Oryang Central cell in Namokora town council in Kitgum district has blamed local leaders in the district for sleeping on the job as young girls dress inappropriately; something she says is contributing to moral decadency in the community.
Mama Cecilia Arach Otoo was speaking during the community dialogue organized by Women’s Voice for Development and ADRA-Uganda in Namokora town council, kitgum district.
Ms. Arach said young girls are exposing their body parts which attracts attention from responsible and irresponsible men to take advantage of them. She appeals to local leaders to walk their talk on the dress code of the young people if they are to have a bright future.
Hon Komakech Jimmy councilor five representing person with disability in Kitgum district noted that the young people have abandoned the traditional dress codes which is breeding criminality like rape and defilement. He called for by-laws to be enacted so that the young people are protected.
Hon Kenneth Nyero Nyokcek, the Urban Chairperson III for Namokora Town Council reasoned that much as local leaders have born the blame for not doing enough, parents have also abandoned their responsibilities.
